Cara Loken is a Support Specialist with the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program. She is a military spouse of 21 years, her husband currently serves in Air National Guard, and has two sons and one granddaughter. Her oldest son served in the U.S Army, while her youngest son is preparing to join the Nebraska National Guard.
In 2016, Cara was awarded the honor of the Armed Forces Insurance National Guard Spouse of Year. She is also highly active in Veteran volunteer work, founding her organization, “heARTS for Healing” in 2016. This organization supports those who suffer from mental health issues and other deployment related concerns, and military kids through the arts.
In addition to the arts, Cara is a published author of several children’s books and military spouse related articles in several state and national publications. She has founded several state-level volunteer recognition programs and has also started a Veteran’s caregiver retreat to teach caregiver self-care techniques.
Cara’s life-mission is to help those in need by teaching art and giving back to her community, focusing on helping all military members and their families.
